Unai Emery wants the Arsenal board to bring in FC Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti in the summer transfer window, according to a report in England.
The Daily Star is reporting that the Gunners boss is eager to recruit the World Cup winner to bolster his defence ahead of the new Premier League season.
The same article states that Umtiti has asked FC Barcelona to listen to offers for the France international in the 2019 summer transfer window.
According to the same story, Emery would have to blow through most of his summer transfer budget to sign Umtiti given Arsenal have made £50m available to their Spanish head coach for new signings.
Umtiti would certainly bring some experience to the Arsenal defence after winning two La Liga titles as well as the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup twice.
The French defender has netted two goals in 97 games in all competitions since his move to FC Barcelona in a €25m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon in 2016.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term after the Gunners ended up behind Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC.
The north London side lost 4-1 to bitter rivals Chelsea FC in the Europa League final to miss out on the chance to secure a spot in the Champions League next term.
