Unai Emery wants Arsenal to sell Mesut Ozil this summer, even if it means paying off his contract, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that Emery is keen to get rid of Ozil this summer as the Gunners look to overhaul their squad.
According to the same story, Emery is set to hold talks with Arsenal chiefs this week about their plans for the summer transfer window – and top of the agenda is resolving Ozil’s situation.
It is claimed that Emery will “order” Arsenal to dispense of Ozil “no matter what the cost”.
Ozil has found himself in and out of the Arsenal team this season but he started the Europa League final clash against Chelsea FC last week.
However, he was unable to prevent the Gunners from slipping to a disappointing 4-1 loss to the Blues in Baku.
The 30-year-old midfielder – who is Arsenal’s highest-paid player – scored six goals and made three assists in all competitions for the Gunners this season.
Ozil started 20 games and made four appearances from the bench in the Premier League in Emery’s first campaign in charge at The Emirates.
