THEY’RE billing this as one of the ‘most stacked cards’ in UFC history.

After various cancellations, location headaches and lockdown dramas, UFC 249 is going ahead at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

Set to be filmed behind-closed-doors without any crowd in attendance, the fight night will be the first since the USA went into lockdown over Covid-19.

Who is fighting on the UFC 249 card?

DANA WHITE has fought hard to get this event on – and fans are delighted with the card he’s put together.

Originally, UFC 249 was set to be headlined by Tony Ferguson and lightweight king Khabib Nurmagomedov.

But with the Russian unable to leave the country due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions, Justin Gaethje has stepped in to a headliner role and the interim title is now up for grabs.

Elsewhere on the card, there’s the Bantamweight Championship between Henry Cejudo and Dominick Cruz, while the prelims features a real fan-favourites clash with ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone against Anthony Pettis.

MMA fans look set to be treated to a packed May as the UFC looks to return in style – and the card on May 9 is set to start a bumper run of events.

White also claims he is close to securing a private island which will be able to host MMA matches going forward, which will be crucial if the lockdown measures stay in place for any length of time.
