Tottenham Hotspur are set to capitalise on Arsenal’s hesitancy over a deal for Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, according to a report in England.
The Daily Star is reporting that Tottenham are primed to launch a bid to sign the Denmark international in the summer transfer window despite previous interest from Arsenal.
The same article states that Arsenal failed with a joint bid to sign Andersen and his Sampdoria team-mate Dennis Praet earlier this summer.
According to the same story, Arsenal have followed up on their interest after Sampdoria quoted the Gunners an asking price of £31.2m for the Danish centre-half.
The Daily Star go on to add that Spurs could swoop to sign the promising defender as a replacement for Belgium international Toby Alderweireld this summer.
The report adds that Tottenham could face competition from Serie A trio Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan for the Sampdoria star in the transfer market.
Spurs finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to continue their run of finishing in the Champions League qualification places under Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham lost 2-0 to Premier League rivals Liverpool FC in the Champions League final in Madrid earlier this month following goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.
