Tottenham Hotspur have ruled out a move to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Lilywhites have decided against a move to sign the midfielder this summer, and that could leave the door open for Manchester United.
According to the same story, a number of English clubs have been approached by Sporting Lisbon this summer about Fernandes, with the club said to be “in need” of the £50m transfer fee they hope to raise by selling him.
The article now says that Manchester City have “distanced themselves” from signing Fernandez, and Spurs are also not interested in the 24-year-old midfielder.
It is suggested in the same article that Liverpool FC are not looking to make signings in that position, and that leaves Manchester United as a potential Premier League destination for Fernandes.
The same article says that Manchester United are “weighing up their options” when it comes to signing two midfielders this summer.
It is suggested that although the Red Devils are still interested in Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff, they may be tempted to make a move to sign Fernandes instead.
