Toni Kroos dedicated a message to Jurgen Klopp on Twitter after Liverpool FC beat Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League on Saturday night.
The Reds made a second-minute breakthrough when Mohamed Salah netted from the penalty spot with a powerful finish after Moussa Sissoko was penalised for handling the ball in Tottenham’s area.
Liverpool FC soaked up a lot of Tottenham pressure but Spurs lacked a cutting edge as Harry Kane struggled to trouble Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.
Substitute Divock Origi, who replaced Roberto Firmino in the 55th minute, sealed a 2-0 win thanks to a precise finish with three minutes to go.
Klopp has previously lost two Champions League finals after Borussia Dortmund lost to Bayern Munich at Wembley in 2013 before Liverpool FC suffered a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid last term.
Kroos was on the opposing team on both occasions to deny his compatriot the Champions League trophy.
But the German midfielder was delighted for Klopp and Liverpool FC judging by his message on Twitter after their 2-0 win.
Kroos wrote on Twitter: “Congrats @LFC! Gratulation Jürgen Klopp!”
Liverpool FC have won the Champions League on six occasions. Only Real Madrid and AC Milan have lifted the trophy more times.
Klopp has finally won a major trophy at Anfield, having lost in League Cup, Europa League and Champions League finals.
