Manchester United have failed with a £50m bid for Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop to sign the Palace right-back since the Premier League season finished last month.
Crystal Palace were reported to have rejected an initial £35m bid from Premier League rivals Manchester United for the 21-year-old defender.
The 20-time English champions are thought to have made signing Wan-Bissaka a priority this summer ahead of the new Premier League season.
But Manchester United appear to have been knocked back by the Eagles despite upping their bid to £50m.
Solhekol has taken to Twitter to claim that the Red Devils haven’t been back in touch with Crystal Palace in the past three days, casting doubt on the deal.
Solhekol wrote on Twitter: “Manchester United have not made improved bid for Crystal Palace right back Aaron Wan Bissaka. Expected to shortly. One source says there’s been no United contact for past three days. United had bid of £35m plus £15m add ons rejected. Wan Bissaka in favour of move”
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be keen on signing British talent in the summer transfer window to improve his squad.
The Red Devils need to strengthen at right-back following Antonio Valencia’s departure following a decade at Old Trafford.
Ashley Young is set to turn 34 in July as the Englishman enters the twilight of his Premier League career.
Manchester United have only signed Swansea midfielder Daniel James in the transfer window so far.
