Simon Mignolet took to Twitter to praise Alisson Becker’s performance in Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final on Saturday night.
Liverpool FC were ahead in the second minute when Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the Spurs area.
Tottenham pushed for an equaliser but the north London side struggled to find a way past Liverpool FC’s resilient defence.
Alisson produced a fine stop to deny Christian Eriksen from a free-kick in the second half and the Brazilian managed to parry Son Heung-min’s strike to safety.
Divock Origi came off the bench to score Liverpool FC’s second goal in the 87th minute to seal their sixth Champions League title.
The £67m signing made eight saves in total to deny Tottenham an equaliser in Madrid.
Alisson moved to Liverpool FC from AS Roma last summer as he replaced Mignolet and Loris Karius as Jurgen Klopp’s permanent number one.
And Mignolet, who has spent the season on the bench, took to social media after Liverpool FC’s Champions League triumph to praise Alisson’s performance.
Mignolet wrote on Twitter: “Another HUGE performance between the posts #YNWA #TEAM #ChampionsOfEurope #SixTimes”
Alisson kept more clean sheets than any other Premier League goalkeeper in the 2018-19 season as Liverpool FC finished with the best defensive record.
