West Ham United have informed Manchester City and Manchester United that Declan Rice is not for sale this summer, according to a report in England.
Sky Sports News is reporting that both Manchester City and Manchester United made approaches to West Ham about their promising England midfielder following his impressive Premier League campaign.
The same article states that the Hammers have pushed back on interest from the Manchester duo after informing their Premier League rivals that they don’t plan to sell Rice this summer.
According to the same story, Manchester City are pursuing Atletico Madrid midfielder Rhodri – and the Premier League champions only view Rice as an alternative to their top target.
Sky Sports News go on to add that Rice would be interested in a switch to Manchester United but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to strengthen other key positions before he tackles central midfield.
Rice scored two goals in 34 games in the Premier League last season to establish himself as first choice in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting line up at West Ham.
The Red Devils are looking to improve their squad following a disappointing end to the Premier League season under Solskjaer after his appointment at the end of March.
Manchester United finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table.
