THOUSANDS of Tiger Woods fans swarmed the 18th green in an attempt to catch a glimpse of one of the most famous sporting comebacks in history.

One of the greatest of all-time bounced back from years of personal and physical turmoil to claim his first PGA Tour win since 2013 on the Challenge Tour.

It will go down in the history books as Woods, who won by two shots, claimed his 80th PGA win.

Amazing pictures from the final hole in Atlanta showed just how much it meant to Woods and his legion of dedicated followers.

There was once a time when it was uncertain whether the 42-year-old would ever play golf again after numerous back surgeries.

But on Sunday night images told the full story as Woods announced to the world that he still has plenty to offer.

Speaking after the winning putt, Woods struggled to hold back the tears when he said: “Certainly, this is going to be up there as one of my better accomplishments I’ve had.

“Just considering where I’ve been, what I’ve had to dig through and fight through and the amount of help I’ve had to have to get myself to this point. My body was a wreck.”

Woods still has a long way to go to catch Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors.

But his fellow American has backed Woods to claim another four an equal his haul.

Reported by Golf, Nicklaus said: “Oh, I think its realistic,

“With today’s equipment and physically the way the guys take care of themselves, I think they can play well into their 50s. So maybe Tiger has another 40 majors to play.

“Out of 40 majors can he win five of them? I don’t know, certainly I think he’s playing well enough. It depends on how much he wants to work at it and how interested he is and how long he wants to make a commitment to do that.”
