Jose Mourinho hailed Diogo Dalot as one of the best young right-backs in European football after he made his senior Manchester United debut this week.
The 19-year-old signed for the Red Devils on a five-year contract from FC Porto in the summer transfer window but he has been made to wait for his first appearance in a Red Devils shirt due to a knee injury.
Dalot made his first start of the season for Manchester United as he helped the Red Devils to claim a 3-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League group stage opener on Thursday night.
The teenager will now be hoping to hold down a more regular spot in the first team after he featured for 90 minutes in Manchester United’s first European game of the season.
And Mourinho was delighted by what he saw from the 19-year-old on Wednesday night, with Luke Shaw also earning some praise from his manager.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Mourinho said: “Both full-backs were very, very good. Very offensive and always eyes open. Very calm.
“Luke has been doing it since the start of the season and Diogo is one of the best young right-backs in Europe already. He is just 19 years old.”
Dalot will be hoping to make his Premier League debut for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to top-flight action on Saturday with a home clash against Wolves.
The Red Devils are aiming to make it three wins in a row in the top flight for the first time this season.
