It comes after the twins’ mum Samantha Ford, 37, appeared in court yesterday charged with their murder.

The twins, who were due to turn two in January, died in hospital in the early hours of December 27.

The toddlers were found by cops after Samantha crashed her car into the back of a lorry on the A299 near seaside town Whitstable, Kent.

She survived with just minor injuries and officers took her the 15 miles back to her Margate home where they found Jake and Chloe.

Paramedics rushed the children to hospital where they were pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Samantha spoke only to confirm her name, age and address when she appeared at Canterbury Magistrates’ Court in Kent yesterday.

Two female security guards stood on either side during the brief hearing, lasting only a few minutes.

The court was told she was charged with two counts of murder but no other details were given.

Samantha – in a grey jumper – cried as the charges were read out and could be seen putting her hand to her right eye throughout.

There was no application for bail and she was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court tomorrow where it is expected she will appear via video link.
