Manchester United are closing in on the signing of 16-year-old Spanish wonderkid Mateo Mejia from Real Zaragoza, according to reports.
The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils are set to conclude a deal to bring the teenager to Old Trafford this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add some youth to his squad.
According to the same story, Mejia is heading to Old Trafford after Manchester United beat off competition from other clubs in La Liga and the Premier League.
The same article says that signing is part of Solskjaer’s plans to add youth to his Manchester United squad as he looks to rebuild at Old Trafford.
It is claimed that the Norwegian wants to “completely overhaul” his squad at Old Trafford as part of a long-term rebuilding process.
The same article says that Manchester United are still on the lookout for some “big names” this summer, but their transfer plans have been hampered by the fact that nobody wants to sign Alexis Sanchez.
Manchester United confirmed their first signing of the summer earlier this month when they completed a deal to bring Daniel James in from Swansea City.
The Red Devils finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
