Manchester United are considering the possibility of signing Mauro Icardi as part of a deal that would see Romelu Lukaku head to Inter Milan, according to a report in England.
The Daily Express, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Manchester United are contemplating whether to consider Inter’s proposal of using Icardi as a makeweight in the deal.
The same article states that the Red Devils would be interested in the Argentina international despite his mixed reputation in the dressing room.
According to the same story, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want a replacement for Lukaku if the Belgium international does move to Inter.
The report adds that Icardi could prove to be a ready-made option for Solskjaer to add firepower to his team alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Although Icardi may have a mixed record off the pitch, the Inter Milan forward has proven consistent in front of goal after netting 111 times in 188 games in all competitions.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Red Devils failed to secure any silverware to end the campaign on a disappointing note, losing 2-0 to Cardiff City at Old Trafford on the final day of the campaign.
