Manchester United may be tempted into a move to sign Danny Rose from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to reports in the British regional media.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Red Devils have been put on “alert” by Rose’s recent admission that his future may lie away from Spurs this summer.
The 28-year-old was previously a long-standing transfer target for the Red Devils – but bolstering their left-back options became less of a priority after Luke Shaw’s revival last term.
Nevertheless, it is claimed in the same article that Manchester United could still be open to a move to try and sign the England defender this summer.
According to the same article, Shaw could benefit from some added competition for the left-back role in the Manchester United team next season.
The same story says that it is not clear whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be keen on signing Rose or not, but the player’s recent comments have suggested that he would be attainable.
Rose made three assists in 26 Premier League games for Tottenham Hotspur last season and also helped them to reach the Champions League final.
The Red Devils confirmed their first signing of the summer last week when they announced that they had agreed a deal with Swansea to sign midfielder Daniel James.
