Manchester United are weighing up a potential move to sign Lyon wonderkid Mathis Rayan Cherki this summer, according to a report in England.
The Telegraph is reporting that the Red Devils are interested in a swoop to sign the 15-year-old as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to build for the future.
The same article states that Ryan Cherki will be eligible to move to another European club when he turns 16 on 17 August.
According to the same story, Manchester United will face stiff competition for the teenager’s signature from La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, as well as Serie A champions Juventus and Bundesliga title holders Bayern Munich.
The Daily Telegraph go on to add that Ryan Cherki would command a big contract given the interest from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs in his signature this summer.
Indeed, the report suggests that Manchester United would have to offer “their biggest-ever contract to a scholarship-age player” if they want to win the race to sign the Lyon prospect.
The Red Devils have only signed Wales international Daniel James in a £15m deal from Championship side Swansea City in the summer transfer window so far.
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
