FANS of the Last Tango in Halifax are in for a treat with this Sunday’s episode when a Happy Valley crossover involving Sergeant Cawood occurs.
A show insider told The Sun Online exclusively that there’s a scene on this week’s Last Tango in Halifax where Cheryl, the police woman, talks to Caroline about Sergeant Cawood being terrifying in a sweet tribute to Wainwright’s spin-off drama.
A source said: “It’s a small scene but it will delight fans. Catherine’s definitely a fan favourite and the opposite to Caroline.
“It will give them hope that the characters are beavering away in writer Sally Wainright’s brain ready for a new series.”
Writer and creator Sally previously revealed there would be a third instalment of gripping thriller Happy Valley last May.
Speaking at the premiere of Gentleman Jack, she said: “There will be a third Happy Valley, I don’t know when, but it’s always been the plan that there’s a third one.”
Meanwhile, the Last Tango in Halifax returned to screens for its fifth series on February 23.
The romantic comedy last aired in December 2016 as two Christmas Specials but now fans have finally been given the chance to see what Celia, Alan and their respective families are up to.
The trailer previously revealed baby Calamity is now a little girl who can’t help but ask Celia (Anne Reid) all sorts of personal questions, particularly about her age.
Meanwhile, Alan (Derek Jacobi) has taken up a job in a local supermarket but trouble could be afoot as his brother Ted arrives from Australia, with no plans to go back.
But one of the most exciting parts of the trailer is when a new relationship for Caroline (Sarah Lancashire) is hinted at.
Fans of the show will know the character was left devastated by the death of her wife Kate shortly after their wedding day.
