John Terry is convinced Frank Lampard is the right choice to become the next Chelsea FC manager.
The Derby County boss is the favourite to take over the reins of the west London side following Maurizio Sarri’s exit earlier this month.
The Italian coach led Chelsea FC to a third-placed finish before the Blues were 4-1 winners against Arsenal in the Europa League final.
However, the west London outfit parted company with Sarri after he decided to replace Massimiliano Allegri at Serie A champions Juventus.
Lampard led Derby to the Championship play-off final last term before his Rams side lost 2-1 to Aston Villa at Wembley.
And former Chelsea FC defender Terry, who is the assistant manager at Aston Villa, believes Lampard will be a great appointment for the Blues.
“After the season he has had with Derby and with Chelsea’s transfer ban in place, there is no-one better equipped than Frank to succeed at Chelsea. It is perfect timing for him and the club,” Terry told the Daily Mail.
“Frank was under pressure to succeed at Chelsea the day he arrived from West Ham and he never hid from that. He revelled in it and went on to become Chelsea’s greatest-ever player. Lamps is a legend and now is the right time for him to come home.
“Roman is a successful businessman because he is so demanding but Frank will demand nothing less from himself.”
The 41-year-old ended his Chelsea FC career as the club’s record goal-scorer after he netted 211 times in 648 games in all competitions.
Lampard won the Premier League three times, the FA Cup four times, and the League Cup twice as well as the Champions League and the Europa League during a distinguished career at Stamford Bridge.
But the former England midfielder only has a year of managerial experience under his belt after he took over the reins of Derby last summer.
