John Hartson has criticised Arsenal for making an “embarrassing” £15m bid to sign Kieran Tierney from Celtic this summer.
Reports in the British media over the weekend have claimed that the Gunners have tabled an opening £15m offer for the 22-year-old as Unai Emery looks to bring in some reinforcements this summer.
It is claimed that Celtic have rejected the offer and are looking for a transfer fee closer to £25m for the left-back.
Arsenal are yet to sign any new players this summer, with the Gunners thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings as they aim to bolster their squad ahead of Emery’s second campaign in charge.
Now, former Arsenal star Hartson has blasted the Gunners for the their apparent valuation of Tierney.
Writing on Twitter, Hartson said: “My old club Arsenal testing the waters with reported 15m bid for Kt.
“Celtic don’t want to sell besides that in this current market 15m is an embarrassment to the player and his ability.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season and missed out on Champions League qualification after they lost 4-1 to Chelsea FC in the Europa League final in Baku.
The north London side have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph under Arsene Wenger back in 2004.
