Harry Redknapp has warned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that Manchester United still require a further six signings in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are thought to be on the verge of completing a £50m deal with Crystal Palace for Aaron Wan-Bissaka after weeks of speculation linking Manchester United with the England Under-21 international.
Wan-Bissaka will strengthen Solskjaer’s options at right-back after Ecuador international Antonio Valencia was released by the Red Devils earlier this month.
However, Manchester United need a lot more work given that they finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term and 32 points behind champions Manchester City.
Former Spurs manager Redknapp outlined just how many more signings the Manchester United boss needs to sign in the summer transfer window to revamp his squad.
“I think next season we might see one of the big six dropping out,” Redknapp told talkSPORT, as quoted by Metro.
“I’m not sure how strong Arsenal are defensively and, unless they bring some players in, I don’t see where they’re going to be next year.
“I honestly think Manchester United are the same.
“Wan-Bissaka has a big future, but I think they need four, five, maybe even six players. I think they’re miles away.
“Man United need to bring in good players to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the chance to be successful and, looking at it at the moment, I wouldn’t see them making the top four.”
Manchester United have only managed to finish in the Premier League’s top four in four of the past six seasons since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013.
The Red Devils didn’t win any silverware for the second successive season as Manchester United ended up in sixth spot behind Chelsea FC, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Solskjaer was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s replacement back in December before the 20-time English champions confirmed the Norwegian as their permanent manager at the end of March.
