Harry Maguire is ready to reject Manchester United’s approach and complete a move to Premier League champions Manchester City, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Red Devils have submitted an enquiry to Leicester about the possibility of signing the England international this summer.
The same article states that the Foxes will ask for a world-record fee for a defender if they’re going to sell Maguire this summer.
Man City or Man United would have to surpass the £75m transfer fee that Liverpool FC coughed up to sign Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.
According to the same story, Maguire would prefer a move to the English champions, who are looking to replace Vincent Kompany this summer.
The Daily Mail report goes on to add that Manchester United are in the market to sign a centre-half in the summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to improve his defence.
Manchester United conceded more goals than Leicester, Newcastle and Wolves in the Premier League last season to highlight their problems at the back.
The Red Devils failed to finish in the Premier League’s top four following a 2-0 loss to relegated Cardiff City and a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town in their final two games of the 2018-19 season.
