Marcus Rashford outlines his targets for Man United

Marcus Rashford has outlined his desire to restore Manchester United to get “the club back to where it belongs”.

The England international signed a new long-term deal with Manchester United in the summer to commit his future to the club until 2023.

Rashford’s future had been a source of debate before the 21-year-old decided to pen a long-term deal with 20-time English champions.

The Manchester United striker has been one of the club’s most consistent performers over the past couple of seasons.

Rashford has netted 45 goals in 170 games since breaking into the Manchester United team under Louis van Gaal in 2016.

However, the English forward has only won the FA Cup, the Europa League and the League Cup, with Manchester United falling short in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Speaking to Manchester United’s website about his targets at Old Trafford, Rashford is hoping to restore the club to its former glory.

“I think it’s a very exciting moment,” Rashford told Sunday’s United Review.

“For me it was just about getting the new contract out of the way and solidifying that I’m here for the club. It’s about getting the club back to where it belongs, what everybody knows Manchester United are.

“I give my life for the club and that’s the most important thing. For me, when you’re in a squad with a lot of young players who share the same ambition and have the same drive, I can only see us succeeding.

“It might take us some time, but if we all stick to the game plan, work collectively as a team, and we’ve got a good manager who knows the club and who shares the same ambition, who knows what we can achieve?”

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013, when Sir Alex Ferguson led the Red Devils to their 20th top-flight crown.

The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in December.

The 20-time English champions signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James this summer.
