Manchester City have asked to be kept updated about N’Golo Kante’s situation at Chelsea FC, according to a report in England.
Website Goal, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Citizens are interested in signing the 28-year-old World Cup winner should Kante become available.
The same article states that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to sign a long-term successor for Fernandinho, who is past his prime at the age of 34.
According to the same story, the defending Premier League champions want to be kept informed should Kante become discontented at the west London outfit.
However, the report does suggest that a summer bid for the Frenchman remains unlikely given that Chelsea FC are set to serve a transfer ban from Fifa.
If there is little movement on Kante’s future at Chelsea FC, the story claims that Manchester City could turn their attention to Atletico Madrid star Rodrigo Hernandez instead.
Kante has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League over the past four seasons in the Premier League.
However, Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri has used Jorginho in a holding role this term and pushed Kante into a more advanced midfield position.
Kante won back to back Premier League titles with Leicester City and Chelsea FC in 2016 and 2017.
