Arsenal would be crazy not to make a bid to sign Anthony Martial if the Manchester United striker doesn’t renew his contract at Old Trafford, according to Lauren.
Martial has struggled over the past two and a half seasons at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho took over the reins from Louis van Gaal in May 2016.
The France international burst onto the scene under the Dutch head coach after Martial moved to Manchester United in a £35m deal from AS Monaco in 2015.
The 22-year-old found the net 17 times in his first season at the 20-time English champions, but Martial has struggled since Mourinho’s appointment.
The former Lyon striker was thought to be on the brink of an exit in the summer but Martial ultimately remained at Manchester United beyond deadline day.
The number 11 has found his form over the past month or so following a return of six goals in 11 Premier League games this season.
Martial has little over six months left to run on his current deal but Manchester United do have the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.
Former Arsenal defender Lauren believes the Gunners would be “crazy” not to launch a bid for Martial if it becomes apparent the French forward is set to leave Old Trafford.
“If Martial doesn’t renew his contract at Man Utd, Arsenal would be crazy not to try and snap him up,” Lauren told SportingBet.
“He’s a fantastic player and is starting to show what he can really do when given a good run of games.
“Martial won’t go anywhere without being guaranteed first team football, which I think he would get at Arsenal.”
