Ian Wright praised Fabinho for a composed performance in Liverpool FC’s 1-0 win against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Brazil international started at centre-half alongside Virgil van Dijk as Jurgen Klopp’s side looked to end a two-game losing streak.
Dejan Lovren suffered an injury in the opening minutes of Liverpool FC’s 2-1 loss to Wolves in the FA Cup third round to leave the Reds short on options at centre-half.
Liverpool FC were already without Joe Gomez and Joel Matip so Klopp was forced to use Fabinho in an unorthodox centre-half role at the Amex Stadium.
The summer signing produced an assured performance despite being pitted against Brighton’s robust striker Glenn Murray in the Premier League clash.
Liverpool FC made the breakthrough in the second half courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s penalty as Liverpool FC secured their 13th clean sheet of the season.
Former Arsenal striker Wright was full of praise for the Brazilian midfielder following their close-fought win against Brighton.
“Fabinho came in and showed a lot of his natural instincts,” Wright told Match Of The Day on Saturday night.
“Fabinho dealt Murray very well. He got in positions where he could clear the danger. He looked pretty calm in situations. He was able to clear up the danger.”
Liverpool FC signed Fabinho in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The Reds star won the Ligue 1 title with AS Monaco in the 2016-17 season to earn interest from Premier League giants Manchester United, although a move failed to materialise.
