Hugo Lloris has declared that Tottenham Hotspur are excited for what promises to be a tense clash against Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.
Spurs will make the short trip across north London to face Arsenal in the derby clash fresh from a huge win in the Champions League in mid-week.
Tottenham edged to a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan to keep their slim hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive ahead of their trip to FC Barcelona next month.
The Lilywhites were 1-0 winners against Arsenal in the last meeting between these two teams after Harry Kane netted a second-half goal at Wembley.
However, Arsenal notched up a 2-0 victory over Tottenham in what ultimately proved to be their last-ever north London derby at The Emirates under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League games, so Spurs will be facing an in-form Arsenal side this weekend.
Tottenham’s World Cup winner Lloris is relishing their clash against Arsenal in Sunday’s north London derby.
“We know it is more than a game for both clubs and for both [sets of] fans,” Lloris told Sky Sports.
“Now we have time to recover and to prepare as well as possible but that type of game you play more with passion and desire.
“It is the type of game we all want to play and we are all excited to play.
“It is going to be interesting to face Arsenal this season with a new manager.
“They have a good energy and they have had some very good results in the last few weeks so it is going to be a very good game for both teams.”
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 and the Gunners were regressing at an alarming rate under Wenger.
His replacement Unai Emery has instilled a determination in the Arsenal team that has been missing in recent seasons.
Spurs, meanwhile, have made their best-ever start to a Premier League season but are still five points adrift of Manchester City.
