Granit Xhaka sends message to Gary Neville about Arsenal criticism

Granit Xhaka has insisted that he doesn’t pay attention to criticism of the Arsenal midfielder from pundits such as Gary Neville.

The Switzerland international was heavily criticised for his performance in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in their final Premier League game before the international break.

Xhaka brought down Son Heung-min in the penalty area in the 40th minute to allow Tottenham striker Harry Kane to double the away side’s lead at The Emirates.

Fortunately for Xhaka, his team-mate Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were able to get on the score-sheet to level the north London derby.

Former Manchester United defender Neville was quick criticise Xhaka after the penalty incident during his commentary before the Sky Sports pundit further singled out the Swiss star after the game.

However, the Arsenal captain has reiterated that he isn’t concerned about the external talk surrounding his performances.

“It’s part of football, there are a lot of people that talk a lot,” Xhaka told Blick, as quoted by Metro.

“I cannot influence anything and I do not want to. It is not my business. My job is to perform on the pitch.”

Arsenal have earned seven points from their opening four Premier League games to make a decent start to the new season.

The Gunners will return to Premier League action with a trip to Watford in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal are looking to finish in the Premier League’s top four for the first time in four seasons.
