Gary Lineker lavished praise on Marcus Rashford for his “superb” finish in Manchester United’s 1-0 win at Tottenham on Sunday.
Rashford gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time when he latched onto Paul Pogba’s brilliant pass and coolly finished past Hugo Lloris.
The 21-year-old has been in top form for Manchester United in recent weeks and his opener on Sunday was Rashford’s seventh goal in the Premier League this season for the Red Devils.
And England legend Lineker was clearly impressed by what he saw from Rashford as he gave Manchester United the lead at the end of the first half.
Writing on Twitter after Rashford’s opener, Lineker said: “Superb finish by @MarcusRashford after a brilliant pass from @paulpogba. Spurs vulnerable to the counter-attack, which Manchester United are looking to exploit.”
Meanwhile, former Liverpool FC midfielder Danny Mills also praised Rashford for his fine finish.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live, Mills said: “One incisive ball through, using the pace of Rashford, and he picks out a brilliant finish right into the far corner.
“This is not an easy finish. He’s wide, the angle’s not particularly favourable, and he puts it just beyond the outstretched fingertips of Lloris, just inside the far post.”
And Lineker also had some praise for David De Gea following his fine performance at Wembley on Sunday.
He added on Twitter: “Not sure I’ve ever seen a keeper make more saves with his feet than David de Gea. Ridiculously quick reactions.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action next weekend when they host Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
