Chris Sutton hailed N’Golo Kante for showing some “real quality” as he helped to inspire Chelsea FC to a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
After a goalless first half at Selhurst Park, Kante scored the eventual winner when he controlled David Luiz’s pass on his chest and fired home in the 51st minute.
Kante has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC team this season, scoring three goals and making two assists in 20 games for Maurizio Sarri’s men.
And former Chelsea FC star Sutton was particularly impressed by Kante’s goal as the Blues claimed victory in their final game of 2018.
Speaking to BBC Sport after Kante’s opener, Sutton said: “It was a brilliant run from the right straight into the centre, but N’Golo Kante still had a lot to do to hook the ball past Vicente Guaita.
“It was a moment of real quality to deliver the goal that this game needed.
“There was a lovely weight on the pass to Kante from David Luiz, because there was not a lot of space in behind that Palace defence to exploit.”
The victory was a welcome one for Chelsea FC as they ended the year with three points.
It kept them in fourth place in the Premier League table and 11 points behind leaders Liverpool FC as Sarri looks to guide the Blues to Champions League qualification this season.
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Wednesday with a home clash against Southampton.
