BORIS JOHNSON has told the British public they must stay home and in lockdown – despite the hot weather over the bank holiday weekend.

The UK death toll climbed to 31,448 as another 207 people died from coronavirus in England alone today.

This comes as Mr Johnson prepares to outline his “roadmap” on the lockdown on Sunday, with potential changes coming into force next week.

The Prime Minister hopes to bring in small changes such as relaxing limits on exercise and picnics before analysing what impact it has – while urging they stick to lockdown measures despite temparatures soaring to 26C.

Among the new policies expected is that businesses will be asked to provide face masks for their employees while anyone entering the country will have to self-isolate for two weeks.

The current restrictions were extended once again on Thursday.

But in Friday’s daily press briefing, Environment Secretary George Eustice suggested McDonald’s takeaways could operate safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.
