Chelsea FC plan to announce Frank Lampard as their new manager before their return to pre-season training next week, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Blues are set to bring in their former midfielder as their new boss after Maurizio Sarri’s departure to Juventus earlier this month.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are looking to announce Lampard as their new boss before the players report back to Cobham to begin pre-season training next Friday.
Lampard has been touted as the heavy favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge despite his relative inexperience as a manager.
The 41-year-old only has one year’s worth of experience in the dugout under his belt after having been appointed Derby County boss last summer.
Lampard is on course to be appointed as Chelsea FC’s new boss after Derby County confirmed last week that they had given the Blues permission to speak to the ex-England star about the job.
The same story says that Lampard is set to pen a three-year contract worth around £16.5m to take over at his former club.
Chelsea FC finished in third place in the Premier League table and won the Europa League under Sarri last term.
