The reality TV star was just ten years old when his mother killed herself after suffering from mental health problems.

Joey, 29, was pulled in for an interrogation after clashing with Paralympian Lauren Steadman.

Opening up about his tragic childhood, Joey told the directing staff: “I like Lauren but I think she’s in competition with me.

“I’m a lot more clever than people think. They don’t want to believe that.

“I’m here to find out how tough I really am. I believe I’m quite tough inside because growing up wasn’t easy.

“I had to deal with a lot of s***. My mum committed suicide when I was ten which was quite difficult.

“That hardened me up a bit. It made me tougher inside.

“I know it’s stupid, but I’ve just been able to start opening up about it and saying the word mum about three or four years ago.

“I always ask why she would do that, because I know she loved me.”

He added: “I’ve got a big trust issue. One day she was there and one day she was gone. It’s like why?”

Fans were left in tears as Joey broke down over his mum’s death.
