BARCELONA have signed Valencia goalkeeper Neto… hours after Dutch shot-stopper Jasper Cillessen moved in the opposite direction.

A £23.2million deal for the Brazilian was confirmed on Thursday morning with his contract running to 2023.

Neto cost Los Che around £8m when joining from Juventus in 2017
Cillessen was linked with Benfica and United before heading to Valencia

On Wednesday, it was confirmed Cillessen would be moving down the east coast to Estadio Mestalla for just over £31m.

The Blaugrana reserve had been linked with Manchester United and Benfica having spoken publicly of his desire to move for more game time.

In three years at the Camp Nou he made just five La Liga appearances while acting as Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s under study.

Some 24 of his 32 games came in the Copa del Rey, where Barcelona lost to Valencia in the final last month.

But he won’t face much competition in Valencia now Neto has departed for Catalonia.

Barcelona have agreed to pay £23.2m up front with an extra £8m in add-ons.

The 29-year-old is no stranger to playing back-up after two years behind Gianluigi Buffon in a spell at Juventus earlier in his career.

However he earned plaudits for his reflexes at Fiorentina and during his two years in Valencia.

Like Cillessen, Neto was linked with a Premier League switch earlier in the window when reports in Spain placed him on Arsenal’s wish list.
