Jordan Henderson has insisted that he is not concerned about his lack of playing time at Liverpool FC this season.

The Reds captain has found his first-team opportunities at Anfield to be somewhat restricted this season under Jurgen Klopp.

Henderson has started just one of Liverpool FC’s five Premier League games this season and has come off the bench in the other four top-flight clashes.

He came on to play the final 16 minutes of Liverpool FC’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as Klopp’s men maintained their 100 per cent start to the new campaign.

The England international will now be hoping to prove his fitness to Klopp as he bids to try and hold down a regular spot in the first team at Anfield.

And the midfielder, who recently signed a new long-term contract at Anfield, has insisted that he is not concerned about his situation at the Merseyside outfit.

Speaking at a news conference on Monday, Henderson said: “The lads worked so hard in pre-season and you can see the benefits already in how fit they are and the rhythm they have got from playing games.

“They’re at a very, very high level – you see that in the performances, they have been fantastic, winning games.

“So it’s normal for me that I’m not playing, I can accept it. It just means I’ve got to keep working hard, improve and take my chance when it comes.

“I totally respect the players around me and how well they’re playing, and the manager as well; he always decides and he’s always right.

“I just respect his decision and I’ve basically tried to use this period to refresh my body and refresh my mind because last season was long, especially with the World Cup. It was enjoyable and ended in disappointment, it was a long season.

“And this is going to be another long season for us hopefully, with a lot of games. So I need to make sure I’m ready and I’m trying to use this period to be as ready as possible.”

Liverpool FC will now turn their focus back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League and without a trophy last term.
